Bouquet Gardens Apartments 5.0 5.0 4.0 4.0
Bouquet Gardens is a beautiful apartment complex with carpeting that looks new, a decent sized kitchen and separate bedrooms and bathrooms for all four occupants. The rooms are a bit small, but they do the job for a single. The only problem is that the floors and walls are very thin, so you can easily hear music from underneath (and above if you have a lower level apartment). While the landlord is pretty much unknown, the maintenance staff is very handy - I got locked out of my bedroom and they offered to let me back in without complaining. Another bonus is that the utilities are included, so you can use as much heat as needed during the cold winter months. The location is very close to campus, with only a 7-10 minute walk to the Cathedral of Learning, Posvar Hall, and David Lawrence. Overall, a beautiful apartment, but a bit pricy.

Bouquet Gardens 3.0 2.0 2.0 3.0
Bouquet Gardens while on the surface appears to be the premier housing service on the university campus however this is not the case. All the furniture in the apartment is of the cheapest quality and overall the apartments themselves are not secure; as back doors are often left ajar. For the amount of money one has to pay to live in these small rooms once again the University wins and the students are forced to take the loss.

Forbes-Craig Apartments 2.0 4.0 2.0 2.0
Property Management sucks. Forbes-Craig is very poorly maintained. The Housemaster spends a lot of his time yelling to have things fixed.

Oakland Avenue 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0
I've lived in a university owned apartment for two years and couldn't be happier. The staff and maintenance men at Property Management have been very friendly and extremely helpful for me. Any time I have had a problem with anything in my apartment, Property Management has been quick to assist me. I would recommend a university owned apartment for anyone coming to Pitt.

265 Oakland Ave 5.0 4.0 4.0 4.0
Bouquet Gardens Apartments. University (of Pittsburgh) owned apartments, available to any student other than freshmen (realistically only juniors and seniors). Maintenence was tolerant of all service requests, although one problem was left unfixed for the entire school year (replacement ceiling light shades).

Ruskin Hall 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0
The apartment building is old-fashioned but absolutely beautiful and clean. The apartments have immaculate hardwood floors and old-style wood work that you cant find anywhere else. The apartments are spacious and extreme reasonable as far as rent. The people that have taken care of my maintenance problems are fantastic and could not have been more helpful.

FC 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0
I was an honor student who lived at FC for two years. The building is older, but the maintenance problems were always taken care of right away. Everytime I called the office to request maintenance, everyone was very friendly and helpful. I loved my apartment there.

PA Hall 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0
The rooms in PA Hall are much larger than those in Towers. The view from the upper floors is breathtaking, especially if you are fortunate enough to get a corner suite that overlooks the city. Each room has a private bathroom (shared only by you and your roommate), which makes for a much cleaner showering experience. The building was brand new when I moved in, so the walls were painted and the carpeting was brand new, so no problems there. However, the walls are thin and you can hear the neighbor's alarm going off, especially if they forget to turn it off and leave for class. :( The security at this building is also very good, because they swipe the ID of everyone who comes through. The only drawback to this location is that it is far from lower campus and it's easy to feel disconnected from the rest of the students. The steps leading up to the building are really numerous and you will get into shape very quickly. It's also close to the Pete, so it's handy to work out and grab a bite. When I lived there, the steps were wooden, kind of primitive, and were easy to slip down on the way to the Pete, so exercise caution when traveling down from PA Hall to that area.

Litchfield Tower B 4.0 5.0 2.0 4.0
The staff wasn't the friendliest...I got wayyyy too many fines. But what can I say, I had the time of my life freshman year and will never forget my experience in Towers

Litchfield Tower B 5.0 3.0 4.0 3.0
Rooms in the Towers are pie-shaped and way too small to be shared by two people. As Pitt's freshman housing, students also have to share four showers with 40 people (of the same sex). However, the maintenance crew is really good about helping students out. I kept blowing fuses in my room and the maintenance people were always willing to correct the problem quickly. Another drawback to living here is that on weekends, the Residence Director is only available at certain hours if you happen to get locked out. The major plus of living here as a freshman is that you get to meet a ton of people since the building has close to 20 floors and the dorms are central to so many of the lecture buildings on campus. It's great for learning your way around the campus, especially if you are a newcomer to the Oakland area. Overall, with the communal bathrooms and the small space, but great location, it's decent housing...for a freshman.
