"This is a family-oriented building, quiet, great people live here" -Monty
Was what we were told prior to moving in.
Once moved in:
* Ants: EVERYWHERE !!!
* NO Heat
* Coin-Op laundry: was like washing your close in sewer water.
* 12 ft ceilings- no way to change the light bulbs- which in the lease stated the landlord would help out with... took 5 weeks for them to come out and fix (i didn't have a ladder)
* Window was cracked when moved in- promised to fix, never did.
* Etc...
*** Crackhead Ray on the 2nd floor:
- bounced a bowling ball every night from 1 to 4 AM
- tried to kick our front door in at least 3 times a week at 3 AM
(The cops would not do anything. They told us, "you shouldn't have moved to this area..meaning, 'you are white & should move'!!"; Landlord wouldn't do anything. A shotgun worked just fine.)
* Crackhead Lisa: would knock on our door 4-5 times a day wanting a lighter, cig, phone, food...
* The Prostitute next door who sold crack was friendly! Her 14 grandchildren were nice.
* Cop beat downs/ chases outside bedroom window:
- This happened regularly
