He was my landlord for 2 years and was possibly the worst landlord I have ever had to deal with. The maintenance of the place was almost never taken care of - we had to fix everything. When he did send in his "handyman", the work was not only unprofessional but dangerous and not up to safety code(we know, we looked it up and it took 6 months for him to fix). He would randomly show up and try and come into the apartment. He was always rude to us and was never wrong about anything. The place was in shambles when we moved in and when we moved out he tried to blame 10 years of damage on us. Overall if I could give out a negative score I would.

An absolutely horrible landlord. We were without a bathroom for 4 weeks due to water damage from burst pipes--of course we were the ones being unreasonable to want a working bathroom in the aparment. When I called him to ask for a rent reduction, he became upset and threatened eviction and to speak to the university authorities (a threat I later found to be unfounded after going to student affairs myself) about our "extortion and conspiratorial nature against him." He was always extremely rude and very unwilling to fix anything. House was grossly overpriced and needed MAJOR work.

Without question an awful landlord. The place is a dump – mold, fly-infestations, mice, no insulation, bad windows, overflowing toilets -- you name it, we had it. And to top it all off, the most uncooperative and infuriating landlord imaginable. The number of incidents are far too many to list here. We didn’t even meet him until we had lived in the place for several months. He showed up unannounced, declined to even introduce himself, and cursed at us for putting the recycling in the wrong place. As we found out, it was a typical encounter with him. When we moved out he tried to sue us for 10 years of supposed “damages.” This guy is the rudest, most foul-mouthed, contemptuous, and irritable human being I have ever met. And I’ve seen few places as poorly maintained and as grossly overpriced as his. Avoid him and his dumpy property at all costs.

The place has had tons of problems, and the landlord generally does almost nothing. The worst of it is that we have had Carbon Monoxide poisioning in the house, a deadly gas you can't see or smell. The landlord is quite certian the CO problem is fixed and put detectors in most rooms now. However, that doesn't change the fact that it took 3 occasions over the course of a year as well as firefighters to get him to fix it fully by changing how the heaters vent from the house. He still took over a week to fix it after the firefighters broke down the doors because the levels were nearly deadly, luckily we were away on break most of that time after the incident. I am not entirely confident that the fix is up to code though, it just goes out the window and is not properly sealed because there is just a plywood sheet with a gaping hole. There is still water leaking into the basement which has not been fixed for months and months, running over some of the wood beams on the ceiling of the basement, dripping down to the floor, and then running down the drain in the center of the floor. I am sure this is quite bad for the structural beams. Also, don't store anything in the basement, it all seems to end up damaged and or moldy after a few weeks from the water. Additionally, there is some mold in the bathrooms. The house is also quite drafty with single pained windows, of which the back bathroom window is cracked across and hasn't been fixed for over a year. Be sure to keep the windows sealed with those plastic sheets, or you'll be cold during winter and paying for huge heating bills. My roomates aren't quite as upset about everything overall as I am, because I ended moving back on campus for the last semester of my second year staying at the place. Aside from all those problems and the negligent landlord, The amount of space is actually quite nice, I enjoyed the large living room and 3 bedrooms (downstairs Apt 1) when there weren't any problems. The refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and washing machine all work well enough, though they are really old (my guess is at least 20 years) but that is all you can expect in appliances from a place that rents to students.
