Absolute worst nightmare of an apartment rental we could imagine. We had maintenance issues that were "fixed" weeks late by putting a piece of plywood over it. Her idea of fixing things around the house is having a slum team of maintenance men come in and plaster over any problem. She was rude and inconsistent and full of empty threats. After having an attorney review the lease we were told it was a joke of a lease that was clearly prepared by an ill-experienced landlord. For someone who has been in the business for over 20 years, she acts like an amateur. The city inspectors even came through the place to say it wasn't the worst, but definitely one of the worst they had seen. We found out that there was a high probability of carbon monoxide leaking into our apartment from the dirt-floor basement. Nothing was up to code and it was a disgusting place to live. Mold everywhere. Overall, you should never ever rent from this family in general.

This is by far the worst place I'd ever lived in in my life. Overpriced piece of crap. To top it off, I wish there was a lower score available for "friendliness." This woman was a snake! She was nice as can be until she got that security deposit, then turned into a crazy monster. When we looked at the place, it didn't look amazing, but was in a really good location and had no visible damage so we decided to move in. We couldn't have imagined what would happen to this place by the time it was time for us to move in. The people before us TRASHED the place, not to mention the extensive water damage that occurred before we moved in. She decided to fix it by slapping a coat of joint compound over it, which promptly crumbled away. The ceilings leaked, the whole apartment smelled like wet carpet. The sink leaked, the cabinets were all warped and water damaged, the toilet didn't flush, the shower was like someone taking a warm pee on you the pressure was so bad, and the walls were falling apart. I was sick the whole time I lived there -- there must be mold or something. When we moved in and I gave her a list of things that were wrong with the apartment, she called me FREAKING out, screaming at me and saying that I was being "accusatory" and "I should be so lucky as to live in a place like this." She is a monster. She said that because we moved in ONE DAY early she "Didn't have a chance to clean," and that's why the place was a wreck. If you can find a person who can clean a totally trashed apartment and fix all the water leaking in and repair water damage, then I will gladly hire that person to be my robot housekeeper. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PERSON. Things will break and she either won't fix them or send some half-wit family member who is supposedly an "expert" to fix them. Her sister is a crappy landlord too, I had a friend who rented from her. People like this family are the reason that Oakland looks like some sort of war-torn country.
