Minus: Nick Kavalieratos was a nut with a temper. Someone tried to break in, and smashed a window. The window was never fixed before I moved out 2 months later. The apartment had an on again off again roach problem. I imagine they were doing something about it, but just not enough. Plus: Nick's wife was lovely. She is the person to deal with on all issues. The rent was very reasonable. Good for a poor working student like I was.

My roomate and I chose this apartment because the rent was reasonable and they offered a parking spot in the back lot for 30 extra dollars a month in rent. We both had cars, and about a month and a half after we moved in, we went to the back lot and found that both of our vehicles had been towed. We called Helen K, and asked her why she had our cars towed. She said she made a mistake and there wasn't enough open spaces in the Back Lot, and we couldnt have our cars there anymore. She claimed to have written us a letter about this earlier in the week but we never got one. She also had workers come to our apartment when we were away for Christmas break, without warning us, and they trashed our apartment and never cleaned up after their work. Overall, it was a terrible experience, and i'd never suggest anyone rent from K Rentals aka the Kavalieratos.

The whole experience was absolutely awful. They didn't pay the water bill sometimes, wouldn't let us in the basement so the meter could be read, took forever to fix things and did a shitty job when they did, never called me back a single time in the two years I was there...I could go on forever.

We rented this apartment because at first, Helen seemed to be very accommodating and the rent was reasonable. This was an awful experience. Let's see, where to start. First of all, they never returned phone calls. You literally had to call 3 times a day til they answered, and when you finally talked to Helen, she played stupid...oh, I didn't know you called! The heat didn't work in the back room very well, and we told her this NUMEROUS times. The maintenance guys showed up and determined that it's an old apartment and we'd have to deal with it. You could see your breath in there and it was never taken care of. They locked the basement door so the gas company couldn't get down to read the meter. They even threatened to turn our gas off if they didn't get a reading, but it was impossible to get ahold of Helen to schedule that reading. Our water was threatened to be turned off. It was always the utility companies' faults though...yah right. We had a safety inspector come for free and they found over 16 violations. She fixed maybe 2 of them. They fixed the fire escape door, and put it in a less safe door and left the frame unpainted and it looks like crap. We had a window broken, and they put a piece of crap, cheap window "glass" put back in. The windows themselves are from probably 1950 and just terrible. She wouldn't put screens in for us. Our refrigerator broke on a Saturday, and we couldn't get ahold of the office until Monday because they didn't have an emergency line, so we lost some of our food. Now they have an emergency number, but they still don't answer quickly. DO NOT be fooled by her if you are looking to rent from her. She is awful and you will be miserable living there. It is not worth a few bucks saved in rent. I seriously could keep going, but I think this is enough.

I rented from this company for 4 years. Although at times, they were a little hard to get a hold of, I would not agree with previous posters. I was promised our apartment would be renovated during the course of our lease and it was.. I would rent from them again.. but, I guess to each his own

They were absolutely TERRIBLE. They sucked as landlords, but let's add to it. After we moved out, they sent our security deposit to the addresses we had BEFORE we moved in, so luckily 2 out of 3 of us got it. We haven't been able to get a hold of them to see what happened to the 3rd roommate's check. And the check I cashed BOUNCED! $245 check, at the beginning of the month. I've been trying for THREE days to get a hold of them to find out how to get my money AND the fees the bank charged me for depositing a bad check. They are absolutely terrible and no one deserves to go through what they put us through during and after living there.

The only reason I gave these people 1's is because there are no 0's available. Helen is very nice when you meet her, but from the time you sign the lease, she disappears. I once called twice a day for 3 weeks straight and still received no answer. The stove leaked gas into the kitchen, the furnace leaked carbon dioxide. It took 2 weeks for them to pick up the stove and an additional 3 weeks to return it. Maintenance almost never answers, and the guy that does show up as a fat, lazy asshole. If you work at Home Depot, you'll be fine, but otherwise, do not rent from these people.
