Hands down a slumlord that treats tenants like animals. Steer clear of any property owned by this couple from Las Vegas. Again, the landlord (meaning the property owner and people you call when something breaks) they live in LAS VEGAS! I lived with 2 of my friends in this Crafton Heights house, and knew after about 5 days there that I will not be renewing my lease. My experiences are from July of 2003 until July of 2004: 1.) They are in Las Vegas. Their properties are in Pittsburgh. Their elderly parents are “supposed to” take care of the property fat chance. 2.) We sent personal checks to her Las Vegas address. Since she was trying to cash checks from Pennsylvania in Nevada, the bank put a hold on the checks for processing every month. Rent was due on the 1st, we mailed it 5 days prior. She said this was our fault they were processed late, and no longer accepted checks. Our lease did not specify method and form of payment, but she insisted that she will only accept money orders. We also received abusive and vulgar phone calls and voice messages from her about this situation. We ended up getting money orders every month. 3.) The hot water heater leaked. She blamed it on us saying “we should have emptied the sediment”. Again, this was not in our lease. They replaced the water heater, but not without exchanging words. 4.) Expect to buy your own lawn mower and mow your own yard. They want the tenant to provide those services, they don’t supply any equipment. Steer clear of this slumlord!
