Wow, he always said he's never had any problems with any of his tenants, but obviously none of us are alone! We're also a couple and will never ever move back once we're gone, it was just too many problems - but strangely - they were mostly with the landlord, not the apartment. Any normal guy would've been honest and we would have been fine, but he just blew his top randomly. Once we made the mistake of asking him if we could mail our rent check to him while we were away on vacation (so it wouldn't be late) but he didn't even want to give us his address for some reason. He insisted we pay weeks ahead of time instead which we couldn't afford since we were planning to use money for our trip. He suddenly became furious just because we wanted to know where to send mail to our landlord. It was suspicious to say the least! Later, I overheard others talking about this typical slumlord tactic - they don't want to be served papers or certified mail in case there is a dispute. Contrary to what he told us apparently they have had problems with tenants and keeping tenants security deposits and being sued over it before, at least that's what I heard. All I know is that a good landlord would've been normal and just given us his address without acting offended:( to avoid it. He should get a 0 for friendliness and I wish there were an honesty rating because that would be a 0 also.

Not trustworthy at all in my experience, I just really wish I had looked for reviews online and read some of these comments before I moved into one of their apartments. If I had known his rep, I could have at least avoided the rude, old man who always seems to be fighting with his tenants. I've since learned by trial and error, to make sure never to give him a reason to come around. He also goes through my things while I'm away. On the plus side, the other tenants are always very nice, quiet and courteous, which I wasn't really expecting in Oakland, and it also convinces me that much more that this landlord is a conflict-seeker of the highest order. Too bad, I'll have to move out next year and say goodbye to the sweet neighbors.

Not a good place. Among many other things, it was really annoying that they accused us of leaving the door to the building unlocked when we weren't even there the whole week! It always seems to be locked when we use it, so that plus a few other outrageous accusations and I think someone's screw is loose.

Just found this site. Here's our input: Not recommended. we lived there years ago, but it was too much noise, too many parties nearby, and landlord was unstable and extremely grumpy - maybe he was senile? Don't know if he's even alive anymore, probably shouldn't be saying anything. I guess when you have to move a lot like we did, eventually you get a landlord who isn't nice, even after all the nice ones we've been lucky enough to have in Pittsburgh since then.

Joe's very fair and trustworthy. He occasionally doesn't have his cell phone with him so he can be a little difficult to get a hold of but if you leave a message he'll return it by the end of the day. I've lived here for 3 years now and he's fixed every problem WITHIN A DAY. Some of the stuff in the apartment is a little worn (the furnace must be about 50 years old) but for the price and his quick responsiveness to problems, I really can't complain. Although there is a little community of elderly Amicos and Famiglia of his within the area, he is not at all intrusive. I would definitely recommend him.
