A house with lots of room and a good layout, forever RUINED by having Janet Wang as its landlord. I'm not trying to just gripe, but I really don't know where to start. Let's try things point by point: Personality/Professionalism: None. She would frequently resort to screaming to try to get her way and throw around the word 'sue' as if every college student is stupid enough to back down when they hear it. I've screamed at someone maybe three times in my life, and two of them were at her in response to her baseless, screaming accusations. She'll also harass you by phone (I opted just not to answer her number after awhile), and enter into our house whenever she felt like it. She'd also bring prospective tenants around to look at the place without the required 24 hours notice. Maintenance: Very shady individuals that worked for her. The repairman that finished the minimal restorations on our house was very likely an alcoholic and did often shoddy work. Luckily nothing broke in the year I lived there that we couldn't fix ourselves so we never had to call for repairs (contacting her at all was agreed by all 6 of us to be too much of a hassle.) House itself: The house had very cheaply done renovations, but was structurally sound for the most part. Only one thermostat for the entire upper two floors led to high heating bills. She also insisted on keeping the gas in her name and while I can't prove it, most likely gouged us for more than we owed due to lack of documentation. Conclusion: I hate Janet Wang. And I truly mean 'hate'. DO NOT RENT FROM HER. No matter how good a deal looks or how she might initially be friendly, she is the definition of a slum lord.

Rented from her for less than 2 years and we had a broken: toilet, shower and front door as well as frozen pipes (for nearly a week) a water heater that constantly leaked, and a hole in our kitchen floor. Her "workers" are random, unprofessional men who smoked in our house and had the heat on 90 degrees in the winter. Do not rent from her, and do not live on Edith Place. Your house will get broken into, period.

This might have been a decent property except for the landlord, Janet Wang. She definitely has an anger-management problem and will commence screaming if you have a difference of opinion with her. She's unwilling to listen, speak calmly or do one thing to help if there is a problem, and is only interested in getting her money. She even screams at parents. We had to get a lawyer and go to court to get out of a lease wherein she knowingly allowed a drug seller with an illegal gun to live in the house despite our having told her. She said it was our problem. Fair warning: DO NOT RENT FROM HER or you'll end up sorry you did.

quite possible the worst landlord I have ever dealt with. Extreme mood swings for no good reason. never available when something needs done. Also, if you have the misfortune of renting from her NEVER GIVE HER YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER. Thatr is unless you like to be harassed by broken english at all times during the day about things you have no control over. The list never ends with this Landlord, so if you have an opportunity to rent from her, opt for the city mission instead.

There is not nearly enough space to even begin to tell the horrors of Janet Wang. Unprofessional workers? Heh. That's just the beginning. Yes, you _will_ have unprofessional workers... smoking in your place, ruining your furniture (they cut up a sofa -- why? I have no idea), sleeping in your place, anything. It is also possible that you will be awoken by Janet *screaming* at you, having given no notice that she would come and letting herself in with her key. I wish it was a joke. Over what? Nothing of any importance, I assure you, but it happened anyway. She literally threatened to evict us in order to extort more rent money. We found another place, told her to please evict us. Apparently we called her bluff -- she wasn't willing to terminate the lease. She prefers that you pay your rent in cash ("he good tenant, he pay cash!" was an oft-heard refrain) so that she could pay her workers in cash (and likely keep the rental income off the books as well). I don't recommend doing so, unless you get a detailed receipt from her -- which will be useful in case you have to go to court. I'm not sure how Janet got her tenure as a nursing professor at WVU, but, by God, I can't imagine trying to learn from her. I've often wondered if her persona was all an act -- the tantrums, the yelling, the broken English, everything. Maybe she thinks it's a more effective way to deal with renters? I just can't imagine that a person could get through life acting the way she is. But, she's making her money... buying properties for $60k and renting them to students for $2k/month... renting them as 4-7 bedroom houses when legally only 3 people can live there according to zoning code. And students have done it and will continue to do it just to live off campus. For those of you that rent from her now or have in the past... at least we'll have very interesting memories that finally become funny when the anger subsides years later. So, whenever you picture a slumlord, I don't know what you picture, but I picture a short asian woman, curly hair, hands on hips, yelling to the best of her ability, "You buster! You stay on porch!" Ahhh... memories....

Janet Wang is a terrible lying scumbag. She withheld a great deal of our deposit for things she had never even done for us when we moved in. She hired crackheads to do her cleaning and when she "professionally" cleaned our carpets which were terribly dirty. She used a crack with a cup of water and some powder to clean the steps. She illegally installed an a/c in our house which was not insulated so it tripled our electric bill. DO NOT RENT FROM HER, SHE IS A LIAR!!!!!!!

Please please please please don't rent from this woman. I cannot express my hatred towards her. The people living in our place were some of the cleanest people, yet she still found enough problems to take off nearly 400 dollars from the deposit. There was a huge leak in the basement that forced me from living down there (which wasn't legally allowed in the first place) to live in the living room. I had to move up to the living room because it took her over a month to clean the water coming in and it started to smell and ruin my funiture. I really can't think of one person I hate more than Janet Wang.
