We informed our landlord about the toilet that had started to leak the day we noticed it, after 5 weeks he has yet to fix it, despite us informing him that it has started to leak into the downstairs neighbor's apartment. Also, when I first moved in, the door to my room didn't close all the way because it was too big for the frame, after over a month of waiting he finally came over to "fix" it by planing the sides of the door off. He left all the wood shavings all over the floor and on my bed which is right by the door, and the door STILL doesn't work, you have to put all your weight into it to get it to close, and it does not lock either. My roommate's roof leaks, which again Jim just doesn't seem to care about, and the oven has not worked properly since I moved in because it needs a replacement knob. Jim said he ordered a new knob, that was four months ago, no knob. Our heating bill in December was outrageous because the heating unit broke (which he did fix) and we were promised to be reimbursed upon the arrival of the next month's heating bill. When it showed a 150 dollar difference and we informed Jim, he said we would discuss it further later and he never got back to us. He's extremely hard to get a hold of, only occasionally answering text messages and phone calls. If you are considering being a tenant of one of his houses, DON'T DO IT.
