I just wanted to add that there is going to be another lawsuit against Saad in the next few months and I want to know if anyone on this web site can find out about the results of this lawsuit -It would be great to know and I am sure there are other people suing this crook BUT they are not mentioned on this web site

On behalf of another tenant: "I am ashamed to even admit that I lived in that dump for 9 months. He comes off like such a sweet old man, but then he robs you blind. He learns just enough about you as a person to be able to manipulate you by changing the subject whenever you start to question him about the awful heat in the building, the fact that he installed rate limiters on the facets and showers, among many other egregious offenses. On top of that, he enters your apartment without notifying you and leaves notes on your lamps if they are too close to his beloved "vinyl-backed wallpaper." Anyway, this guy owes me $1600, and he knows I am from Binghamton, NY — basically FAR FAR away from Pittsburgh, too far to even bother driving. On top of that, he knows that I am going abroad on a Fulbright to Lithuania at the end of the summer, so I doubt he has any intention to give me my money back. He probably thinks he got off a clean scam on me — I'm still within 90 days since moving out... Lastly, does anyone know if there is a statute of limitations on the length of time since moving out that you can still try to collect from this crook? I wouldn't be back in the United States until June of 2012. I was hoping to apply to medical school with the $1600 he owes me — this guy basically ruined my life. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. He is the most racist man I have ever met in my entire life. Prior to leaving he advised me to dump my Thai girlfriend, because if I married her we would "have short children, and whenever I looked at them I would never be proud of them because of their short stature." I wanted to punch him in the face right then and there on the street."

This guy might seem nice and friendly but DO NOT be fooled! When my ex-boyfriend and I were looking at apartments, we made a first-time renters mistake by not asking to look at a copy of the lease before handing over the security deposit. The lease had a HUGE list of totally ridiculous things, like you couldn't have guests after a certain time, you couldn't have people stay over and he could come in whenever he wanted to look around. When my ex saw this, he said he didn't want the apartment and demanded his deposit back. The guy never gave it back, even after my ex hounded him for weeks over the phone. We eventually gave up b/c we figured $300 was worth never talking to this asshole again. If you are a GIRL, you should NOT RENT from this jerk, especially if you plan on living alone. The way he talked about women and his much younger wife was super creepy, and the fact that he feels he can come into your room whenever he wants is unsettling.

Do NOT rent from him!!!! He is deceptive. He will take your "down payment" and not allow you to move in if he chooses so. He is racist in his selection of tenants. He only accepts cash or money order. He will take your security deposit when you move out. The building is not up to the health/fire codes. He will go into your room when you are away, and go through your mail. You will have no privacy. He well tell you stories repeatedly. He will ask for rent in advance. He will give you complaints. This IS HELL!

I also want to add that Saad would frequently go into the apartment when I was out of the building. He never stole anything but he would come up to me and say "I checked your room and it is not clean enough!" - What he did was illegal. A landlord does not have the right to kick you out OR even go into the room without your permission. I rented from this guy back in 1996-97 for about 5 months and left to work in Russia at the US Embassy. I also think that he is racist. He said alot of nasty things to me about particular ethnic groups that he does not want to rent to. He is completely a crook and it does not come to be as a surprised that he is divorced as he is not easy to get along with. Moreover, he was always trying to kick me our for stupid reasons until I grabbed him by the shirt and told him that I will call 911. He left me alone and never threatened me again. I left in the end of March in 97 and I was so glad to leave him and never see him again. I think it is a pity that there is gun control in Pittsburgh. I would have surely shot him if I could. DONT EVER RENT FROM SAAD IBRAHIM on 333 Melwood. I left many years ago and I have not been to Pennsylvania since. Please look at my other posts.

I am so glad to hear of other people who have had bad experiences with this son of a YOU KNOW WHAT!! I rented from him back in 96-97 for about 5 months. I left for a good job offer at the US embassy in Moscow. I was doing a Master's at the time at the GSPIA at Pitt. I stopped grad school for the job offer. I had NOTHING but problems with him. He ALWAYS threatened to kick me out for stupid things such as making too much noise as I walk up stairs. He even tried to kick me out for simply cooking!! He said that the smoke ruins the paint on the walls - He even said that he got complaints about me making noise. When I asked him "who" made the complaint he was silent and did not answer. I often did not have hot water and the place was over priced. About a week before I left we had a huge altercation. I almost HIT him. He insisted that I leave the apartment and I told him that I REFUSE TO LEAVE THE APT until I call 911. He became my best friend after that and he left me alone. In Penssylvania, it is against the law for landlords TO KICK YOU OUT!! They have to take you to a housing court. I had heard that he also kicked people out to get money from new tenants but I FOUGHT BACK and HE NEVER KICKED ME OUT - Saad Ibrahim is nothing but a crook and you should never never rent from him. I also want to add that I met a man who was in the procees of suing him for 250 dollars in small claims court. The man paid the deposit and Saad then gave the place to someone else. Saad truly is a sad crook.

This man filed to evict me after I asked for a new stove (3 of the 4 burners were working on the GAS stove). He claimed the stove was new. He didn't want to fix the stove, and he even turned the gas off to my apartment because of the stove. The same day that I got my new stove he filed against me. If I didn't go to file against him I would have never found out about my court date. He made sure of that. Don't rent from him. Ever. I've gone through 2 court hearings against him so far to get back my last two months rent and my security deposit. He's only out to screw over students.

Problems so far: 1) Landlord requests: A) downpayment, B) first month's rent, and C) last 2 months rent before signing lease. 2) Landlord does not give his tenants a copy of the lease after it is signed. 3) If you want to rent from a person who is a manipulator, this is the place for you!

I rented from Saad for a year. The only good thing I can say was it was the cheapest efficiency I could find (which is why I stayed there despite Saad's idiosyncracies). He seemed very nice while I was staying there, as long as you didn't make a peep, bring anyone over to your place (not that you would want to), or ask for maintenance. The problem arose when I told him I wouldn't be renewing my lease. First, he asked me to leave a month early so he could fill the apartment with another renter. I didn't really mind this, so I agreed. So, when I finally left he refused to send me my security deposit. He claimed there were "damages" to the apartment, the only one of which he would site was the lamp, which was certainly broken when I moved in, plus it was no more than probably a $9.99 lamp from Target, not even approaching the cost of my entire deposit. I also moved into a dirty apartment and left it in a better condition than I left it. He's a poor, distrustful individual. Please pass on renting from him.

I'll do it short : DO NOT RENT HERE!!! Since I had to quickly find a room to live, I made the mistake to rent a room there. First the landlord will tell nice stories about his rooms. That he only rent to decent people, that he cares about everyone in his building. Then, you'll have to pay for the security deposit, plus for the last two months of the rent, a way for him to be sure that you won't leave. There is no hot water, the rooms aren't clean at all... you'll pay far too much for such a studio.

Old, old building. Insect problems at times. Over priced. Cleanliness before moving in was horrible. If his talking bugs you when you first look at the apartments, then it will only get worse. Will call late at night for minute details that he thinks matter, and really don't. If you want to be treated like a 12 year old, this is the place to live. Incredibly forgetful. Did not get a copy of the signed lease until 4 months later. Never got a copy of the long list of rules. Will tell you one thing in order to get you to move in, and then change his mind. If you bring this up to him, he will begin telling you about the way other people rent, but it really has nothing to do with what you are asking. Is more worried about how he compares himself with other renters, than how he treats you. Horrible experience. Worst summer of life.

Do not rent here. Everything in the previous post was true for me, as well as the fact that it took a threatening phone call to get him to return my security deposit. I also was somewhat concerned about the fact that the only women he was willing to rent to were young, white and attractive. He openly stated his unwillingness to rent to Indian or Chinese tenants. Do not rent here.

Only rent from Saad unless you want to hear about mushrooms and Pom juice on a regular basis. This man sweet talks you by saying how he has a great building, that he only rents to decent people (read: white people) and that he respects your privacy (he would frequently enter my apartment and pull the blinds down). The apartment is in a sorry state. There are extreme low-flow adapters on the showers, and the water does not get hot. I rented from him over one SUMMER and had to shower in Bellefield Hall because it was too cold to shower in my place. He insists that the air conditioning be on all the time lest the heat melt the wallpaper off the walls. My stove broke halfway through the summer and it was still broken when I moved out. I was cooking out of the microwave for a month and a half. Saad does not allow toilet plungers because he believes they clog up the pipes further down the line, and when my boyfriend's toilet broke (in the apartment next to mine), Saad blamed it on him, saying he did not know how to flush a toilet properly. THIS BUILDING IS NOT UP TO FIRE CODE. Saad keeps extreme insulation on all windows, and the door at the end of the hall that says "Exit" actually leads to another apartment. I also had to make a threatening phone call to get my security deposit back.
