Dave was a big creep and wouldn't fix things when they needed to be. The property was very old and needed alot of attention that he never gave it. Mold in the apartment was never addressed and was a health risk.

Dave was alright but this house is a hell hole! Shit it is always breaking and while Dave is pretty quick to fix it, sometimes he blames stuff on the tennants that is clearly not their fault. One time the cieling in the shower collapsed due to a corroded pipe on the 2nd floor and almost killed one of my roomates. Also if you want pets get it in writing! When he showed us the place the current tenants had pets and we told him that we would be bringing our cats and then we moved in he flipped out and said that he never said we could have cats and that the last tennants didn't have cats when they clearly did. Also sometimes he gets drunk and confused and calls yelling in the phone for no reason, like the time he called me yelling about a broken toilet and totally had us confused with another property. He is also a crazy Serbian and hard to understand sometimes and he gets way to personal like I don't know what the lanlord/renter relationship is like in his country, but he gets way to up in your business for this country. However despite all his annoynaces and craziness and his shitty house held to gether with duct tape in parts (no joke like is seriously is) I would rent from him again just becuase its an experience worth talking about...

The house was real old so there were a few problems but Dave was the nicest guy ever about getting things fixed, easy to contact, just great guy in general.

Easy to contact, but a creep and a cheat. The apartment was falling apart, and the heat (which was supposedly included in our rent) was always either broken or turned all the way down. When we'd call to ask him to turn it up, he'd refuse. I got sick numerous times over the winter because of his negligence. When I told him that my fiancee and I were interested in finding subletters so we could move out early, he would continually harass us; he would call us and show up at our apartment to yell at us and berate us in the hallways. He also made lewd sexual comments to me about my fiancee. He seems like a nice guy, and we went a year with no problems, but don't be fooled. Stay away at all costs.

He was the worst landlord I have ever had. Everything started off really great at first. We were subletting an apartment for the summer and he was really great so we decided to stick with him and moved into another apartment he maintained in the fall. It was a HORRIBLE mistake. Like the aforementioned complaint, our heat went out at least five times over the course of two or three months and then off and on until the end of the winter. We had no heat for three of the coldest days of the winter and he didn't care at all. When we finally decided to move and find someone to sublet it, he would call to harrass us and made up lies about how he had called our families and listed things they had said about us. In reality, he never contacted our families and didn't even have their phone numbers. It was such a relief to get out of there. But besides the harrassment (some of it blatantly sexual) and the horrible maintenance, the worst to me was his racist attitude. When we were looking for a sublet, he informed us that the new occupant could not be African American. His words were, "When you see black coming, you know there's trouble." The man is a bigot. It wasn't the first time he talked to us about how he didn't like to rent to African American tenants. It was really disgusting and I don't know how he's gotten away with it for this long. To anyone looking to rent from him, I'd say to stay away at all costs. It's not worth the trouble (or money).

Though the building I lived in was old, Dave was available to make repairs at all times during the year. He came over to change furnace filters, look at leaky faucets, deal with pests, etc. I feel that he was very concerned with my quality of life. He had some rules that were strict. I believe that some of his preferences may have come from terrible tenents in the past. While I have never heard him say that he preferred non-blacks, he did mention that he would prefer renting to graduate students or more serious, quieter students/young professionals. I would highly recommend him if you are a responsible renter.
