I would not rent from Betty again. She is mentally unstable--went back and forth about allowing me to paint, and after she agreed to it when I signed the lease, she called me the next day and yelled at me saying that she had never said I could paint. She is solely motivated by money and does not care to invest in the upkeep of this 100-year-old apartment building in the historic Dilworth area of Charlotte. If anything needed to be fixed she would argue with me about it. When I was leaving, Betty pressured me for a week to get out of the apartment early, and agreed to pay me back rent for the extra time. But when I did get out early, she changed her mind since the tenant she had lined up decided to wait another week. I did get my deposit back, but if you rent from her, be sure to get every promise in writing.
