First off, I apologize for the length of this. I know I'm leaving things out but this is the main bowl of shit. The landlord goes through the tenants trash. Seriously. Plus there is trash piled up all over the property. If someone puts out an empty case of beer bottles it will sit there for months. Myself and a few of the other people in the building have all finished taking the trash to the curb in the night after the slumlord has left. The deal is he insist on 'taking' out the trash but has yet to get it all the curb. If you take the trash out he will stop you going as far as pulling trash out of your hand while throwing a little fit in whatever language he speaks. The backyard which he calls a parking lot is a swamp or a dirt pit depending on the weather. The landlords idea of fixing this problem is by taking scraps of carpet and throwing them into the swamp. When that didn't work, the next ingenious plan was to throw some of the precious trash he's been saving in the parking pit. Best part is he charges to park there. He leases out more parking spaces then are available and as a result most people park on the street. Also there is no light problem in the parking pit. There is a light back there and I have put a new light bulb in there several times. Each time the landlord has taken the bulb out. It's pitch black back there, the ground that isn't a swamp is riddled with trash bricks and stumps. There are bricks falling from a chimney every time the wind blows and land directly on the path from the parking swamp to the door. So if you make it past the trash bricks and stumps watch out for falling bricks. When I looked at the place it smelled clean. Not to mention I was in a bind, full time student full time work and I had one day to move out of my old place. Anyway, I signed the lease (HA!). The next day I went to the apartment and the first thing I noticed when I opened the common area door was the smell of shit, smoke and piss. I went to my apartment door and was greeted by a much stronger smell of piss. The walls were dirty to the point that if you ran your hand across them it would leave your hand either black or sticky. Tried calling the landlord and couldn't get a hold of anyone who would admit to speaking English. It was great, they would answer the phone speaking perfect English until I began to explain who I was and what was wrong. I called the other numbers and got no answer. I left several messages with no result. Eventually I went to stay at a hotel. The next morning I called to have the carpets cleaned. I've had the carpets cleaned eight times. The carpets will not come clean, the people who came to clean them said that they should be burned. As for the walls my girlfriend and family came to the rescue. While I was at work and school they cleaned and painted the walls and ceilings and put down area rugs. We still had to wear shoes in the house or throw away our socks. The neighbors steal mail. Once my cheap key broke off in the cheap lock and a week went by before I replaced the deadbolt myself. Never heard a word back from the slumlord. He never asked me for a key. The gas company came one day and said that the landlord had to take care of some updating things.(?) They put down flags, spray painted the ground and spent about an hour talking with the landlord. As soon as they left he pulled up the flags and used a shovel to scrape off the spray paint. A few months later after coming home from a very long day I smelled gas as soon as I pulled onto the property. Called the gas company and they shut the gas off and had everyone get out of the house so it could air out. For two days we had no heat hot water or cooking gas. Again not a word from the landlord. Once another tenants fridge went bad, the landlords solution was to come into my place when I wasn't there (before I had to change the locks) and took the food out of my refrigerator, set it on the ground along with all of the magnets and stuff on the outside of the fridge and took my refrigerator. Luckily I came home while they were carrying it up the stairs and pulled the plug on that ingenious plan. My shower wall tiles were falling in, as in like 2 foot by 2 foot areas. The way he chose to fix this was with scraps of wood, duct tape, old cardboard and some white pieces of plastic all held together with wood glue and duct tape. This little project took two weeks. We have had ants. We have had cockroaches. We have had mice. We have had drug addicts. We have had hookers. I've had to call the cops, broken up fights and chased away attempted break ins via smith & wesson. The landlord does not respond to any calls and pretends to speak no English. There was never a legit number supplied to me. I'll humbly admit I'm a big guy. Bodybuilding was how I earned money for a period of my life. Make no mistake about it though I'm a very laid back soft spoken calm man yet anytime I ever tried to speak professionally with the slumlord or any of his family they became very flighty timid and did whatever they could to get away. WTF. I'm paying the guy his money and doing things out of my own pocket to improve his crap place and he acts scared of me? His daughter had no problems talking to me about the problems in the apartment. She even wrote things down. Never did anything about it, but at least she had some glimpse of professionalism. If you ever meet salvatore cardillo move on. His places are cheap and there is a very good reason. I've lived in 32 different cities throughout 12 states and seven countries and this guy is by far the worst landlord I've ever come in contact with.

I was very pleased with my experience with this landlord. The units vary in quality, but they don't misrepresent what they have. The maintainance service was responsive, I found, and the manager that I dealt with was friendly and helpful. I would rent from them again, based on my past experience.

My roommates and I had some serious trouble with this group on several accounts. We had a leaking roof in over half the house, even through electrical sockets that they refused to deal with until we threatened them legally. They would often give little notice (as little as 2 hours) that they were showing the property to potential renters, and once they showed up without having confirmed that we knew someone was coming. Absolutely DO NOT rent from this group unless you know all of your legal rights as a renter and have the time and ability to enforce them. Unfortunately for them, we did.

They misplaced my rent payments and tried evicting me. When trying to work with employees at the company, they were very unfriendly and jerky. They were very pleasant before I signed the lease in order to gain my business and guaranteed some alterations to the building, but once the lease was signed, all promised improvements went unfinished and customer service declined. Be very weary when signing a lease.
