The owner of this company is even the star of a recent Post-Gazette article. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08160/888291-53.stm Horrible. Bare minimum repairs, only to make the apartment look good for the next tenant. Current tenants will wait months without a response on repair issues.

I had mold in both bedrooms of my apartment for over 2 months and the landlord finally cleaned it up after 2 calls to the Allegheny Department of Public Health. My utility closet has leaked (leaked is a understatement) for 11 months and the maintenance worker has no clue why. My car has been broken into twice in a year. I can't wait to get the hell out of there. So I definetly would recommend that you steer clear of Trends Capital and Jason Cohen.

I saw your newspaper postings. Interesting that they keep these things on record from over 2 years ago. This company strives to get better every day. Not to say we have not made our mistakes. But where Trends Capital is now as compared to two years ago is night and day. In response to the mold guy... So someone breaks into your car and its Trends Capital's fault? You had to call the health department twice? FYI- The health department has a follow through procedure. You call them once and they will see to it that the job is resolved. You continue on saying that there is a leak in your utility closet for 11 months and the maintenance man has no idea why? Thats interesting, I've looked at our outstanding work orders and see nothing about a a leak in a utility room. In addition I've yet to have a maintenance man report back that he cant figure out the problem and we've just let it go. Come on... You cant seriously think people believe this nonsense do you? Call in and put in a work order. I'm the one that does them. We are at a 24 hour turnaround. Your problem will be resolved within 24 hours. Thats a guarantee our company offers (and no other company does as far as I've heard)

"24 hour turnaround" - come on, you know that's not true. I just left a Trends house (thank God) and we put the same requests in months at a time and they would never get fixed. Lots of people in the building get fined for their rent being late despite being sent weeks early (yes, I stared sending it 2 weeks early and it was still magically late, you guys must have the worst mail man ever!). Trends is just the worst. I will tell anyone I know NEVER to rent from them. Also kind of weird that when you leave the damages are EXACTLY the same as your security deposit amount... not even $1 more? nope, exactly on the money.
Filthy apartment upon moving in... These people fail at life.

There were so many problems, I'm just going to bullet point them: First of all, don't expect your deposite returned to you at the end of your lease. For the first 2 months of my lease, the range/oven in my kitchen did not work because of a "red tag" placed on it because of a gas leak. Trends capital then replaced this appliance with a used range/oven WHICH ALSO HAD issues with gas leaks because of improper installation. -When I moved in the apartment smelled of cat urine and feces. -The bathroom and kitchen floors were so dirty they were sticky. -the toilet, shower and sinks had dark, brown rings of grime in them. -when tenants in the other aparments use the water while you're showering, the facet loses all water pressure and makes a grinding sound until you turn it off. -instead of replaceing the windows in the bedroom they were caulked closed with clear bathtub caulking. -my apartment was broken into. -trends capital "forgot" to pay for trash and water/sewage for the building I lived in so the tenants received threatening letters from the city and the trash piled up for weeks before the situation was dealt with.

And I say, good riddance. I've had pretty much the same experience as all of the other negative reviews on this site and other sites - no response from maintenance, disgusting move-in conditions, fake late fees, and once while we were gone they came in and moved all our shit around, supposedly to check the radiators. They knocked over a ton of stuff in my room and just left it there, and we think they may have stolen a few things as well. I wish I had read all these reviews a year ago, as I would never have signed the offensively controlling lease. It literally says that they can charge you for repairs they won't make; this is straight from the lease: "Upon move-out, Landlord will perform a move-out inspection of the Leased Premises. If Landlord finds damages not documented by Tenant on the move-in inspection form, Landlord may charge Tenant for those damages WHETHER OR NOT LANDLORD DECIDES TO MAKE THE REPAIRS." Trends Capital is really just a waste management company - they're slowly turning perfectly good properties into piles of fucking garbage.
