Rats, Flies, and unlimited apartment access?

I have had problems with rats in the walls of my apartment off and on for almost a year now, as well as mass amounts of flies who come around when the rats start to smell. My landlord has put out traps but has done nothing to fix how they're getting in. I am moving out at the end of the month, and he says that he will take care of it before the next person moves in....I'm not so trusting in that. He's actually been showing the apartment a lot lately. I have also had problems with him not giving 24 hours notice. Today I was in the shower when he walked into my apartment to turn on lights and open windows 1 1/2 hours before he said he would be showing it. He was angry at me for demanding 24 hours notice and gets annoyed when I have asked him for that in the past. I was wondering if there was anything I could do to make sure that the next tenant doesn't have to deal with this. I'm also concerned about him entering my apartment.... Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
