Where does one begin when telling a story about Deliuiis Rentals. I suppose the Begining. I first Rented an Apartment from Fred in 2006 and stayed for an entire year with my roommate. It was bad but nothing too extreme happened. Mostly b/c I was hardly there. When my lease was near end Fred told me he had a Great 1 Bedroom Apt for me on Cable Place. I looked at it and honestly it reminded me of a Cave, however due to time restraints and financial limitations I took the apt. That was the worst decision I ever made in my life!! All of a sudden "Mr. Nice Guy" a.k.a. Fred, became a Trash-Talking, Creepy, Lurking Thief and a Bully and Royally Screwed me.
In the first week of November 2007 It dropped below 20 degrees the one night. My apt was an Ice Box. I spoke with Fred about it asking Him to turn the Heat up. He said that it was too early yet and not quite cold enough. WHAT! Then the same week, my Hot water started to Go. I Swear on everything Holly in this World that I had to take 90 Second Showers b/c my Hot Water didn't last any longer. So I again brought it to Fred's Attention. He told me he has a Plumber coming by. I asked when...he Said, "oh, well, sometime when the Plumber gets an opportunity" um...ok. I reminded him of these 2 URGENT issues multiple times over the following 2 weeks. He did nothing about it. During that Same two weeks He had my Car Towed away illegally!!! It was gone for a week. I couldn't take it anymore and told Fred I wished to Sublet my place. He said I'm not allowed and to "Read Your Lease". But, being the Great Guy that he is, he told me he would rent it out and not to worry. After 2 weeks passed with no improvements I called the Allegheny County Health Dept. Who were amazing! They came to my apt the next day on my lunch Break and inspected my place as well as the whole building. They sited Fred for 11 Infractions!! He had approx. 1 Month to fix them or he would be fined and prosecuted. So, he knew it was me b/c the Health Dept does NOT work under anonomous calls. I had to give my name and info. I didn't care b/c I'm a good tenant and I don't do anything wrong. Needless to say, he was obviously enraged.
A month later I come home to see Yet another Lame Note taped to my door, which is how they communicate b/c they are shady, thievin, liars who stab you in the back, that stated he found someone to move in to my place and that I had a few days more than 2 weeks to be moved out. You must understand that I continuosly asked him to give me a time frame so that I could secure another apt and he kept saying "I don't know, It depends on when someone wants to move in. So I had to come up with money to move and find a place over the Christmas and New Years Break! Ya...it was so much fun...
But, that's not the end. He showed up at my door a few days after he posted his "Note" pounding on my door at 8:30 at night. I answered and he asked if I could be out nearly a week earlier than he already stated. I laughed in his face and asked if he was serious. He got pissed and started yelling at me. I tried to explain that since he was unable to give me a date that I still had to find a place to live and it would be impossible to move any earlier and hard enough as is. He Backed me into my apt screaming at me that I'm a "Little Prick" and that he is "Not God" and that he was doing me a "Favor" and was poking His Fat, Chubby finger into my Chest. I became very upset, as anyone in that position would, and started to yell back that he was a no good slum-lord who is nothing but a "Lunch-Money Bully" who steals money from the ignorant Pitt Students and their hard working Families. He went into a Tizzy over that, let me tell you, and next he said"I'll see you in Court! I'm taking you to the Magistrate". I said good, I wanna tell the world what a piece of Shit you are. and that he has no reason to take me.
I come home from work the following day to see a letter from the District Court Requesting me to appear before the Judge. Fred was attempting to charge me for the future 2 months Rent!! This was Dec 28th and my rent was paid until Jan 9th! He had 860$ on the Document! This literally blew my mind. My father and I prepared our case and it was air tight. We get to court and the Judge tells Fred he Cant' charge me for Future Rent. But ruled in favor of some crazy $30 Garbage Fee which in turn forces ME to be responsible for the Court Fees.
Presently I am filing my appeal. However, Fred sends me my Security Deposit that only has about 1/3 of the total in it! He took the liberty of taking the court costs out of my security deposit plus a bunch of other non-sense that looked like a crazy person typed the document or my 4 year old Cousin on his fisher Price Laptop. I left the apartment in 5 times better condition. He is trying to charge me to paint the walls when they weren't painted when I moved in! I even asked him about it in the beginning and he said he didn't have time to do it before I move in.
So look, everyone...It is not over b/t Fred and I, you have my word. I'm gonna make his Head spin in Court like the little girl on the Exorcist. But I beg you with total Sincerety, DO NOT RENT FROM FRED OR JOE DELIUIIS!!!!!!! If your moving off campus and view a place owned by one of those two Circus Clowns, I Earnstly Advise you to Reconsider or you will no Doubt, Regret the Decision! FYI, the Health Dept infractions were as follows(just to name a few): 1). Failure to maintain Required Living and Sleeping Rooms Temperature of 68 Degrees 2). Failure to install a Smoke Detector in all Sleeping Rooms 3). Electrical Wiring exposed over stove top and open flame creating fire hazard 4). Failure to fix Holes in Walls 5). No Lids for Trash Receptacles 6). Sidewalk had missing concrete and massive cracks and there were more then that!!!!
Fred and Joe are nothing but Thiefs!! They take advantage of unknowing College Students b/c they assume that we won't fight back or do anything about it. Well, I don't know about the rest of you but I was taught that you don't let People like Fred and Joe Deliuiis Take Advantage of You and if, or, when they do...You Teach them a lesson that they will Never, Never forget!
